Leadership Council Stops Traffic for Collections

HOM - 09-02-2014 - Leadership Council Stops Traffic for Collections
These events not only show the dedication our Leadership Council and volunteers have to the Red Cross, but they are a testament to the fact that the Red Cross is thriving in the area.

Motorists in Montgomery City and Mexico stopped for more than signs and lights during the American Red Cross Heart of Missouri Chapter Audrain-Montgomery Leadership Council’s Street Collections.

Leadership Council members and volunteers stood in intersections in the communities during two days in late August to stop traffic and collect donations for the chapter.

“These events not only show the dedication our Leadership Council and volunteers have to the Red Cross, but they are a testament to the fact that the Red Cross is thriving in the area,” said chapter Executive Director Dave Griffith.

The Montgomery City Street Collection took place August 23 at the four-way stop light and raised $756.

Red Cross personnel took to the intersection of Clark and Monroe streets in Mexico on Friday. The unofficial total from the Mexico collection is $1,047.45.

Unofficially, the two events raised $1,803.45 for the Red Cross.

“What a great effort by our volunteers in Audrain and Montgomery counties,” Griffith said. “This just goes to show that no donation is too small. We appreciate every donation. Every dollar makes a difference.”
