The Moore County Disaster Action Team were presented the Governor’s Award for Volunteer Service in the Group/Team category on April 16 at the historic courthouse in Carthage. In a letter praising the team, Governor Pat McCrory states “your dedication sets an impressive standard for volunteer service. I hope that your success will inspire more volunteer enthusiasm.”
The team are on a rotating schedule with 2-week assignments. Whenever called 24/7 they respond to the scene and provide emergency assistance for lodging, food, clothing and other referrals; the emotional support is as important to the client’s recovery as the financial assistance.
