Red Cross New Hampshire Receives Emergency Response Vehicle
With the generous gift provided by Anthem, our emergency response vehicle will continue to enable the Red Cross Disaster Relief Services when it’s needed most

Red Cross New Hampshire Region and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in New Hampshire are pleased to announce that for one year, an American Red Cross Emergency Response Vehicle will be co-branded made possible by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield's WellPoint Foundation. The branding is part of WellPoint Foundation's benefits through the Red Cross' Annual Disaster Giving Program, which helps provide a reliable base for disaster relief services and enables the Red Cross to respond immediately to the needs of individuals and families affected by disaster anywhere in the United States. With their co-branding of an Emergency Response Vehicle, their funds help ensure the vehicle is ready for disaster responses.

The Emergency Response Vehicle was officially unveiled during a special event held at Manchester City Hall recently where members of the community were encouraged to attend and see the vehicle up close.

“With the generous gift provided by Anthem, our emergency response vehicle will continue to enable the Red Cross Disaster Relief Services when it’s needed most,” said Maria White-Devlin, Chief Executive Officer for American Red Cross New Hampshire. “We thank them for their incredible gift to the Red Cross in New Hampshire so we can continue to provide help within our great communities.”

Emergency Response Vehicles aid the American Red Cross for any disaster response. Response vehicles are used for serving meals in areas affected by disaster, volunteers being deployed and cleaning supplies being delivered to impacted areas. Each vehicle can provide support directly to the affected area. Red Cross ERV’s stay locally, unless a national emergency occurs where they need to be deployed to a disaster. The ERV in which WellPoint has sponsored in New Hampshire has responded to 32 Single and Multi-Family Fire incidents in the city of Manchester. The ERV also responded to last fall/winter’s transportation HazMat incident in Manchester in which the Red Cross provided hot meals to first responders for the overturned propane tanker. Nationally, this Emergency Response Vehicle has also been deployed to assist in disaster relief efforts following Hurricane Isaac and Superstorm Sandy.

In addition to the ERV in the granite state, the grant from Anthem’s charitable foundation has helped place ERVs in Louisville, KY, Los Angeles, CA, St. Louis, MO and New York, NY.
