Following September’s month-long “Be Red Cross Ready” campaign, Price Chopper, NewsChannel 13, My4 and iHeartMedia Communities came together to present the American Red Cross with a check totaling $43,243. The check represents donations made by customers in Price Chopper’s 135 stores (located in NY, VT, MA, NH, CT and PA), plus a $10,000 match from the company.
Throughout the month of September, Price Chopper, NewsChannel 13, My4 and iHeartMedia Communities shared important information with viewers, listeners and shoppers alike to help them become “Red Cross Ready” for emergencies. Their combined efforts also raised critical funds to help Red Cross chapters prepare for and respond to disasters big and small in local communities.
“We are truly grateful to Price Chopper, iHeartMedia, NewsChannel 13 and My4 for their incredible support not only of this campaign but of the work we do all year long,” said Gary Striar, CEO of the American Red Cross Northeastern New York Region. “We raise lots of dollars when big disasters happen, but we need to support the disasters – primarily fires – that we respond to every single day in our community. This partnership has helped us do that.”
“Once again, our teammates and customers have risen to the occasion to help neighbors and friends,” said Mona Golub, VP Public Relations and Consumer Services for Price Chopper Supermarkets. “It’s gratifying to know that our collaborative efforts can make such a difference in fueling the Red Cross’ good work right here at home,” she added.
“We at WNYT/WNYA are very pleased with the Capital Region's response to the Emergency Preparedness campaign. Every dollar helps the Red Cross to answer the call when an emergency does happen,” said Steve Baboulis, Vice President & General Manager of NewsChannel 13 and My4.” We also thank our partners, Price Chopper and iHeartMedia Communities, for both their partnership and their unending public service.”
“iHeartMedia Communities is thrilled to have partnered with the American Red Cross, Price Chopper, NewsChannel 13 and My4 to help listeners prepare their families for emergencies throughout the year,” added Kristen Delaney, Regional Market Manager for iHeartMedia. “Thank you to our local communities for their very generous support.”
Funds raised during September at Price Chopper stores in communities across the Northeast will be used in those same communities to help the Red Cross prepare for and respond to disasters.
