The Finger Lakes Chapter of the American Red Cross will be hosting a free brunch open to all Military Families in the region on Saturday Nov. 7 at 10 a.m. at the Horseheads American Legion, 71 Old Ithaca Rd, Horseheads.
“This is an opportunity for the American Red Cross to say thank you to the hundreds of military families who have so bravely sacrificed their time with loved ones so that we can continue to have the freedoms we experience every day” stated American Red Cross Regional Military Director James Love.
570 WSYR and WHAM 1180 talk show host and columnist Bob Lonsberry will be the keynote speaker at the event.
The American Red Cross has provided assistance to United States military personnel and their families since World War One. Both active duty and community-based military can count on the Red Cross to provide emergency communications that link them with their families back home, access to financial assistance in partnership with the military aid societies, information and referral and assistance to veterans. Red Cross personnel form a global network in 700 U.S. chapters, military installations worldwide and in forward deployed locations in Kuwait, Afghanistan and Iraq.
In addition to the brunch, families will have an opportunity to meet other local military families, learn about additional Red Cross services, as well as what services are available from other organizations. Other organizations scheduled to be present at the event include the Bath VA Medical Center and the Southern Tier Veterans Support group will be on hand to answer military related questions.
