In response to a power outage affecting portions of Steuben County, the American Red Cross has established a Warming Center at the Howard Fire Station located at 3622 Route 70A, Avoca.

Residents without power are welcomed to the center for warmth as the region recovers from Tuesday’s storm.

The Warming Center, being operated by Red Cross staff and volunteers, was opened at the request of Steuben County Office of Emergency Services.

According to local officials, approximately 1,300 customers are currently without power. NYSEG and Steuben County Rural Cooperative are working to restore power. It is estimated that much of the power should be restored by this evening.
