HIA-LI (the Hauppauge Industrial Association-LI) honored the American Red Cross on Long island with its annual business award for non-profit achievement on Sept 16. The HIA-LI 20th Annual Business Achievement Awards Gala was held at the Crest Hollow Country Club and drew over 400 business leaders from across the Island. Steve Bellone, Suffolk County executive, gave the keynote address.
John Miller, CEO of the Red Cross on Long Island, accepted the award. “The Red Cross is honored to be named the winner in the Not-for-Profit category,” he said. “I want to thank our volunteers and donors, without whom we could not carry out our humanitarian mission, 24/7, 365 days a year.”
Long Island-based organizations are selected based on leadership, vision and operations. Other nominees for the award were Habitat for Humanity and the Suffolk Y Jewish Center.
