The American Red Cross on Long Island recently welcomed two new individuals to its board of directors – Wayne Horsley, Regional Director of Long Island Parks, and Anthony Acampora, the Partner-In-Charge of the Firm and the chairman of the Litigation Group at SilvermanAcampora LLP.
The Long Island Red Cross board of directors is now comprised of 40 business and community leaders who volunteer their time to help oversee the organization’s mission on Long Island. The Long Island Red Cross responds to approximately 200 disasters a year and serves more than 2.8 million residents.
“We are truly excited to welcome Anthony and Wayne to our team,” said John Miller, CEO of the American Red Cross on Long Island. “I know that their experience, enthusiasm, and community spirit will help to further the mission of the Long Island Red Cross in countless ways.”

In previous years, Wayne Horsley’s leadership skills have put in him the positions ranging from the Finance Director of the Long Island State Park to the Presiding Officer of Suffolk County Legislature. He currently acts as the Regional Director of the Long Island State Parks.
Horsley is involved in many professional and community organizations where he has been recognized as a group member or former board member. Fun fact: he founded the “Good Deed Award” in Boy Scouts of America which is now highly regarded as a prime Boy Scout fundraising tool.
He resides in Babylon, NY, with his wife, Barbara Horsley.
Anthony Acampora, Partner-In-Charge and chairman of Silverman Acampora’s Litigation Group. Acampora has been expanding his litigation practice for over 30 years; building an impressive skill set representing banks, factors, and a wealth of other financial institutions. He is known for his advocacy in helping companies and clients recover hundreds of millions of dollars.
Acampora also works closely with the Business Law Group as the Firm’s advisor to other practice groups when litigation issues present themselves. Acampora is also a member of the American Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, and the Nassau County Bar Association. He received his J.D from Fordham University School of Law, where he was the Associate Editor, Fordham International Law Journal, and his BA cum laude, from Fordham University.
