As we prepare to gather with family and friends this Thanksgiving, I wanted to take a moment to thank all who make our lifesaving mission possible: our dedicated volunteers and employees; our generous donors; and our government, corporate and community partners.
Your compassion and collaboration help change lives for the better every day in Greater NY and beyond. The impact you have on communities in need is constant.
In fact as I write this note, the Red Cross is providing comfort and hope down the street in Harlem following a devastating 3-alarm fire. Moreover, many of our local volunteers are currently putting their lives on hold for a few days in Buffalo to offer their generosity and expertise to a community recovering from record-breaking snowfall and preparing for flooding. Of course, these are only two examples of the countless ways you touch lives 24/7, 365 days a year.
Along with my own heartfelt thanks, I wanted to share a video message from a recipient of our services, Raymond Pichardo, who turned to the Red Cross back in October after a fire left his wife, his five-year old daughter and him homeless. His sincere words of thanks help capture the importance of your collective efforts.
Wishing all of you a happy and safe Thanksgiving!
