Ride For Red to Benefit Red Cross of Cortland County

The American Red Cross of Cortland County was chartered in August 1916 and the Ride For Red is the first in a series of activities over the next 12 months leading up to the centennial.

The Fourth Annual Ride For Red to benefit the American Red Cross of Cortland County will be held at noon Sunday, Aug. 16 with the start and finish at the Three Bear Inn in Marathon.

The 100-mile journey rolls through five counties of scenic farm country with stops at the Georgetown Inn, Preble Hotel and Dryden Hotel. All makes and models of motorcycles are welcome, and the event will feature a buffet dinner, 50/50 raffles, prizes and entertainment.

A popular tradition for riders from throughout the region, this year’s Ride For Red marks the beginning of special anniversary celebration. Registration for the Ride For Red runs from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Aug. 16 at Three Bear Inn, 3 Broome St., Marathon. There is a $20 donation per bike and $10 for passengers. Proceeds from the Ride For Red will help the American Red Cross of Cortland County prepare for disasters and provide shelter, food, emotional support and other assistance in response to disasters such as house fires and floods.
