Red Cross Assists Three Families After Town of New Hartford Fire

Red Cross volunteers are available to provide the displaced families with emotional support.

The American Red Cross of the Mohawk Valley provided assistance to three families who were displaced from their home by a fire Saturday morning in New Hartford.

Red Cross volunteers provided food and clothing to one of the families affected and is working with the other two families at this time to assess their needs.

Red Cross volunteers and staff members are available to provide the displaced families with emotional support and counseling, and referrals to agencies that will help them with their recovery.

American Red Cross Disaster Action Team (DAT) volunteers are trained to respond to disasters such as fires, floods and ice storms and administer to the needs of survivors. Red Cross assistance typically includes temporary shelter, financial assistance for food and replacement clothing, replacement medication, and emotional counseling and support.
