The American Red Cross, Central-Southeastern Ohio Region today announced that the Cleveland Indians’ Mike Hargrove will serve as Honorary Chair of the upcoming 27th Annual American Red Cross Golf Classic. The event takes place on August 4, 2014 at the Scarlet and Gray courses of the Ohio State University Golf Club and routinely attracts about 200 golfers. Their support and that of the sponsors helps raise critical funds for vital Red Cross Services across neighborhoods throughout Central Ohio.
Mr. Hargrove has a long history with the Indians organization. Not only was he named one of the team’s one hundred best players of all time, but as a Manager, he took the Indians to the World Series twice. Now in his fourth season as a special assistant to the team, his experience provides a unique, inside perspective on this year’s season. Hargrove will say a few words to the golfers during lunch and then pose for foursome photos before joining them on the course.
Another perk for attendees at this year’s Golf Classic is courtesy of Hyundai, which is providing a VIP trip for the top two golfers to Las Vegas. The trip includes a list of goodies and giveaways, along with the opportunity to play in the Hyundai Invitational National Final Tournament. Additionally, the carmaker will provide a 2015 Hyundai Genesis, should anyone shoot a hole-in-one.
Sponsorship of the Golf Classic allows the American Red Cross to provide critical community services in Central Ohio. Our amazing volunteers – about 2500 of them - help families impacted by disasters, transport seniors to necessary medical appointments, facilitate emergency messages to connect military families, educate audiences on preparedness and deliver trainings on world-class Red Cross life-saving skills. Limited foursomes and sponsorships are still available. For more information, please visit our website!
