Each year the Madison County chapter of the American Red Cross honors ordinary people who show extraordinary courage, character, humanity, or personal initiative. They were recognized at the 8th annual Hometown Heroes event held on June 20th in Plain City. The event also doubled as a fundraiser which helped raise over $4000 for the local chapter. Individuals were honored as adult, youth, lifetime, education, and workplace hometown heroes.
They have saved lives by donating blood and life guarding at the local pool. Some are veterans that served in the military in WWII and a group of physicians that donate their free time to help people in need of healthcare. They have loaned their talents to teaching art at the Senior Center and built a land lab for their teenage students to further their education. These are truly inspiring individuals who demonstrate selflessness and humanity in their everyday lives. Click here to read more about the Hometown Heroes.
