Red Cross kicks off Fire Prevention Week in Delaware

Delaware County Red Cross, Chapter kicks off Fire Prevention Week Image
65% of house fire deaths occur when there is no working smoke alarm in your home.

The American Red Cross helped kick-off “Fire Prevention Week” as part of Mainstreet Delaware’s First Friday event. Fire Chief John Donahue lead a group of 200+ as part of flash mob dance showcasing the importance of Red Cross CPR training. The firefighters did “reps” for CPR compressions as they kept time to the song “Stayin Alive”. The streets were packed to watch the “burning down the house” exercise. Red Cross distributed first aid kits to the children as part of our “Build a Kit” program and shared fire safety information. Please join our firefighters by being prepared by visiting www.redcross.org/takeaclass.
