In response to last week’s heavy downpours and flash flooding, the local American Red Cross continues to provide immediate assistance to disaster victims throughout Armstrong, Westmoreland and Indiana counties.
As part of its flood relief efforts, the local Red Cross will operate a Service Delivery Site at the Armstrong County office, located at 245 Butler Road in Kittanning. The site is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily through Friday. Workers will be available to meet with affected families to address their immediate, flood-related needs. Clean-up kits are also available for those who need them. Area residents are also welcome to contact the local office for assistance at 724-545-2733.
A Service Delivery Site is also open at the Westmoreland County office, located at 351 Harvey Avenue in Greensburg, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily through Friday. Area residents can also call the local office at 724-834-6510 for assistance.
Any Indiana County residents who are in need of assistance are encouraged to contact the local office at 724-465-5678.
Last week, the Red Cross mobilized multiple teams to perform damage assessment in hard-hit areas throughout Indiana, Westmoreland and Armstrong counties. To date, the organization has provided assistance with immediate needs to 11 families as well as distributed more than 800 clean-up kits to local township and borough buildings in partnership with UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief).
The Red Cross is in close contact with local and county Emergency Management Agencies to coordinate service delivery and meet all immediate, disaster-caused needs in the area.
