Red Cross Helps Two Families After Providence Fire

The Red Cross is helping with emergency housing and food needs.

PROVIDENCE, R.I., August 21, 2014 – The American Red Cross is helping nine people – four adults and five children in two families – with emergency housing and food needs after a fire today on Bellevue Avenue in Providence. Red Cross volunteers Melissa Shires, Steve Carr and Bob and Lori Foti responded to assist the families.

The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a family might not have been able to gather in the rush to escape the fire.

American Red Cross disaster assistance is free of charge, a gift made possible by generous donations and the work of volunteers.
