The American Red Cross Central SC Chapter is pleased to welcome Bill Cronin as its new Executive Director.
As the Executive Director, Cronin is responsible for representing the American Red Cross in the community with a focus on building and expanding relations and being the face of the Red Cross for the media, donors and their communities. He oversees Red Cross external affairs in the Midlands and acts as the chapter's chief executive.

The local board of directors and Bill will ensure the American Red Cross can carry out our great humanitarian mission and be there for families and individuals in the Midlands, across the country and around the world in their hour of greatest need."
Prior to joining the American Red Cross, Cronin was the Vice President of Invest Atlanta (Atlanta’s Development Authority) and was responsible for the day-to-day activities associated with economic development in Atlanta.
Cronin has extensive leadership experience in government and business.
Cronin began his business career in the international shipping and logistics industry in Jacksonville, Florida. During that time, he worked for Columbus Line/Hamburg Sud shipping and worked extensively in the Southeast United States.
In 1997, Cronin joined Enterprise Florida, the state’s public-private partnership which promotes economic development. There, Cronin was Director of Field Operations in which he was responsible for economic development initiatives and daily operations of the state’s six field offices until joining South Carolina’s Department of Commerce in 2007.
In South Carolina, Cronin was the Director of Global Business Development Division of the South Carolina Department of Commerce from 2007 until 2011. Under his leadership, the Division recruited over $14.6 billion in capital investment and over 73,000 jobs.
Cronin is a graduate of Michigan State University, is active in Scouting and a member of First Baptist Church of Lexington. He and his wife, Anne, have lived in Lexington, SC since 2007 with their two children.
