American Red Cross of Mid-West TN Announces 2015 Heroes

The Mid-West Chapter of the American Red Cross will be hosting their annual Heroes Luncheon event on Thursday, April 23 at noon at the Carl Perkins Civic Center in Jackson.  This year’s event will honor four local heroes for their exceptional community service.

Honored individuals are:

Judy Renshaw, Jackson Chamber of Commerce, Humanitarian Award
Richard Childers, District Fire Chief, Hardin County Volunteer Fire Department, Uniformed Hero of the Year
Sue Vegors, Volunteer of the Year
David Brumley, Distinguished Service Award

“We are so pleased to honor four outstanding individuals this year,” said Debra Roberson, Executive Director of the American Red Cross of Mid-West TN.  “It is because of people like them, that we are able to serve the community and turn compassion into action in times of need.”

World War II Veteran, Paul Andert will be the guest speaker.  Mr. Andert served under the command of then colonel, later 3rd Army Gen. George S. Patton and President Eisenhower.  Throughout his time in the service he received 18 awards including the Silver Star, Bronze Star with V Cluster, Battle of the Bulge Medal, Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Medal, European Campaign Medal, Liberation of Holland Medal, Liberation of Belgium Medal, French Normandy Medal, Badge from Sultan of Morocco, Presidential Unit Citation, Combat Infantry Badge, Disabled Veterans Medal, Liberation of France Medal, and Belgium Fourrage Cord. Recently, Mr. Andert was an adviser on the recent film “Fury” starring Brad Pitt.  Fury is about a World War II tank and is based on the 2nd Armored Infantry; the same Infantry Mr. Andert served in.
