Our long-term volunteer and dear friend, Barbara "Bobbie" Duffy Colovin, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2014.

A 48-year member of the community, Bobbie moved to Nassau Bay with her husband Jim during the early days of the Space Program.  She loved Nassau Bay and its activities with friends and neighbors.  She was a long-time member and past president of the Nassau Bay Garden Club.  She also volunteered for electoral polling and voter registration.  A member of the Webster Presbyterian Church, she served as a deacon and Stephens Minister.  Bobbie influenced many young people, especially her children and grandchildren, through leadership and participation in Boy/Girl Scouts and swimming and water safety instruction.

In her Red Cross service, Bobbie's records show a start date of December 31, 1941. During WWII, Bobbie served in the Red Cross and as a volunteer and staff member for disaster relief nationally for over 65 years. She had received her 60 years of service pin and had been invited by NHQ to tour the "Women in the Military" display (this was during Elizabeth Dole's tenure). She also had been deployed many times on national disasters, including the Oklahoma City Bombing.

Bobbie's motivation to help others touched many people's lives and will be truly missed by all those who knew and worked with her. Our kind thoughts are with her family during this very difficult time.
