Red Cross feeding and sheltering families impacted by Waco storms
As repairs are underway, many apartment buildings remain without power; our top priorities for tonight and tomorrow are providing shelter for families who can’t stay at home and delivering hot meals to the people who still don’t have power.

The American Red Cross Heart of Texas Chapter is providing shelter, food and comfort to families impacted by last night’s severe storms in Central Texas. Hundreds of Waco families are affected, including residents in multiple apartment buildings which are experiencing ongoing power outages while repairs are underway.

The Red Cross shelter at 4224 Cobbs Drive in Waco will remain open tonight for anyone in need of a place to stay because of this disaster. If your family needs help, come to the shelter or contact the chapter at (254) 523-4985 or www.redcross.org/tx/waco.

“Our volunteers spent most of the day out in the field, assessing damage and delivering hot meals to residents in the affected areas,” said Mark Felton, Executive Director of the American Red Cross Heart of Texas Chapter. “As repairs are underway, many apartment buildings remain without power; our top priorities for tonight and tomorrow are providing shelter for families who can’t stay at home and delivering hot meals to the people who still don’t have power.”
