While we can’t stop emergencies from occurring in the lives of military heroes, we can make sure they never face them alone. Each day, the American Red Cross helps more than 650 military members, veterans and their families through every imaginable kind of crisis.

When a Florida military family experienced a crisis and urgently needed to reach their son, a Navy sailor, they called the Red Cross Hero Care Network. Within hours, an emergency message would be delivered to a ship at sea, halfway across the globe

The Red Cross is the only organization that can officially verify the event and deliver messages to deployed service members during emergencies at home. 

The Hero Care Network is available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Families with military members currently serving on active duty can initiate a request for emergency assistance by using the online self-service tool redcross.org/HeroCareNetwork, by phone at 1-877-272-7337 or on the Hero Care App (download free from app stores or text "GETHEROCARE" to 90999).
