A fourth volunteer from the American Red Cross, Western and Central New York Region is deploying to the south, where people continue to deal with devastation from severe storms and tornadoes last weekend. Joyce Alexander of Rochester will be doing Client Casework in Tilton, Georgia, meeting individually with affected families to discuss their needs and recovery plans. Alexander joins Joshua Horton of Cuba, NY, Sarah Perkins of Pittsford and Diane Sargent of Lockport, who previously deployed to Hattiesburg, MS. 

Reports indicate more than 750 homes have been affected across Mississippi, Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana and Florida, and it is anticipated that this number could exceed 1,000 once all currently inaccessible areas are accessed. Over 150 people in Georgia and Mississippi are still seeking refuge in Red Cross and community shelters. Red Cross response vehicles are circulating through the hardest-hit areas, delivering food and relief supplies as people clean up their homes.  In Georgia and Mississippi, Red Cross and community partners have served over 10,500 meals and snacks, distributed over 2,600 relief items. Red Cross workers will support those affected for as long as help is needed.
