Each year, Red Cross chapters in the Pacific Islands Region present awards to local heroes. These individuals have saved lives, made a positive difference in their communities in the areas of emergency response, disaster preparedness and prevention, fundraising, operations, assisting military service members, veterans and their families, or exemplified the Red Cross mission in some way.
A committee of volunteers representing all lines of service will rank the nominees based on the degree to which their actions uphold the values of the American Red Cross and leave a lasting and positive impact on the residents of the Pacific Islands Region. Award decisions are based on the information provided by the nominator, so please be detailed and include as much supporting material as possible.
About the Volunteer of the Year Award
Only one volunteer can be awarded the Volunteer of the Year award per island/territory. This is the illustrious volunteer who has fulfilled the Red Cross mission in their respective community where they reside.
Past Volunteers of the Year cannot receive the award again.
About Mission Heroes
There is no limit to the number of Mission Heroes a territory/island can have.
Past Mission Heroes cannot receive the award again.
If you are not sure what category your nominee belongs to, you may choose Volunteer of the Year. All Volunteer of the Year nominees may be considered for the Red Cross Mission Hero as well.
Other Criteria
Heroes come in many shapes and sizes. In the past we have honored individuals, teams, companies, adults, children and even animals! We appreciate creative nominations!
