International Disasters and Crises
Delivering Relief and Hope Worldwide
In the face of crises like earthquakes, typhoons, conflict, severe drought, and famine, the American Red Cross and global Red Cross Red Crescent network join together to ease people’s suffering. Whether it’s a typhoon in the Philippines, a migration crisis in the Middle East, wildfires in Chile, or extreme cold weather in Mongolia, our teams are helping.
As part of the world’s largest humanitarian network, the Red Cross maintains a corps of trained disaster responders and strategically positions relief supplies worldwide to deliver immediate support. Our help is triggered by a request from the local Red Cross or Red Crescent team in the country affected and coordinated closely with our entire humanitarian network.
How We Help
Thanks to warehouses strategically positioned around the world, the Red Cross delivers lifesaving aid like tarps, blankets, water containers, hygiene items, shelter tools and cooking kits.
Thanks to the generosity of donors, the American Red Cross provides financial contributions to support disaster relief efforts led by the global Red Cross Red Crescent network. This enables volunteers on the ground to respond quickly and efficiently to address the most urgent needs of disaster survivors.
Red Cross disaster specialists help meet the immediate needs of people affected by global emergencies in areas like logistics, mapping, information management, communications, operational leadership and direct cash assistance.
The Red Cross helps to reconnect families separated by international crises like conflict or disaster through an extensive network of nearly 270 local American Red Cross chapters and more than 185 Red Cross and Red Crescent societies.
