2019 Community Impact Award to be presented to those who help save lives through blood donation
The American Red Cross of Connecticut and Rhode Island will host the 14th Annual Red Cross Heroes Ball on Saturday, March 23, 2019 from 6 – 11 p.m. at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford. This year, the Red Cross will honor the caring and generous individuals and organizations who make it possible for the Red Cross to collect and deliver lifesaving blood to patients in need.
“We are proud to present this year’s Community Impact Award to the individuals, organizations and volunteers who host blood drives and donate blood,” said Mario Bruno, CEO, American Red Cross Connecticut and Rhode Island Region. “These generous individuals are our heroes because they live and breathe the mission of the Red Cross.”
The need for blood is constant, as every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood. The Red Cross relies on the generosity of volunteer blood and platelet donors to meet hospital patients’ needs, and to deliver around 40 percent of the nation’s blood supply.
This year’s Red Cross Heroes Ball will be an evening full of fun, inspiration and heroes. This year’s event is being co-chaired by Tom Vaccarelli, Vice President of Facilities, Construction and Real Estate at Hartford HealthCare and Marcia Keegan, Vice President of National Radio Programming and Production at ESPN. Resiliency Sponsors this year include Mohegan Sun and ESPN. The Ball will be emceed by WTNH News 8’s Keith Kountz. Tickets and information are available at www.redcross.org/RedCrossBall.
