Big Y World Class Markets are partnering with the American Red
Cross to raise donations for those affected by Hurricane Dorian domestically and abroad.
Starting Wednesday, September 11and continuing through Sunday,
September 22, Big Y customers and employees will have the opportunity to donate to American Red Cross disaster relief at all Big Y World Class Markets throughout Massachusetts and Connecticut. Donation containers will be available at all Big Y registers.
“While Hurricane Dorian caused major concerns and damage, we
are so grateful for the support of the Big Y family which helps the Red Cross respond at times of greatest need,” said Mario Bruno, CEO, American Red Cross Connecticut and Rhode Island. “The Red Cross mobilized more than 2,800 disaster workers from across the nation and trailers filled with relief supplies aimed at bringing hope to those in need.”
Big Y, its customers and employees have a strong tradition of supporting those in need through the American Red Cross. Past relief campaigns include the 2004 Tsunami, Hurricane Katrina, and the earthquakes in both Japan and Haiti, Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria. Last year at about this time, Big Y drives made a positive impact on the Red Cross responses to Hurricane Florence, and those impacted by the Merrimack Valley Fires & Explosions. The 10-plus-year partnership has raised over $1.5 million to support international and domestic disasters.
