DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – December 9, 2024 – The American Red Cross of Central Florida & USVI is excited to open a new location for its Florida Space Coast chapter at 200 Bill France Blvd. Suite 300 Daytona Beach.
To celebrate, the Red Cross and the Daytona Beach Chamber of Commerce hosted a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony on December 10, 2024.
“I’m truly excited for staff and volunteers to utilize our new modernized office and enjoy coming in to collaborate and share memorable experiences,” said Space Coast Chapter Executive Director LaTonya Daniel. She has held the position of Executive Director for more than two years after serving as a Community Volunteer Leader.
A tour of the new facility was offered, and guests had the chance to meet staff and learn how the Red Cross provides aid to families affected by disasters in Flagler and Volusia counties. The new office has a more modern style and has a dedicated client casework office. It is specifically designed to help prepare volunteers to address the urgent needs of the community impacted by disasters such as hurricanes, tornadoes and home fires. The common work area is an open environment that provides a collaborative workspace among staff and volunteers.
The Red Cross plays a crucial role in our community and all over the country, providing humanitarian aid during times of crisis and disaster relief efforts. Our mission to alleviate human suffering and promote safety and preparedness resonates deeply with our community values. Since January of this year, our Red Cross Disaster Action Team volunteers have responded to 138 single and multi-unit fire events in Flagler, Volusia and Brevard counties. Our Space Coast Chapter volunteers have combined to contribute more than 24,000 hours since January 1st.
Red Cross Regional CEO Mike Brown, Space Coast Executive Director LaTonya Daniel, community leaders and city officials were in attendance.
As well as the nine new Board members who serve three-year terms. All Board members reside in one of the counties the Chapter serves.
