Every day, seven people die in home fires, most often in homes without working smoke alarms. That’s why the American Red Cross launched our Home Fire Campaign in 2014 to save lives. 

Nationwide, we have already made a lifesaving difference, achieving our initial goals of installing 2.5 million free smoke alarms and helping to make 1 million households safer in at-risk communities. 

In this video, some local fire rescue partners illustrate the importance of our program here in Central Florida. We are proud to say that these outreach and education efforts have helped save 1,505 lives across the country, including three recently confirmed cases in Central Florida which represents two adults and two children.
