LIHUE, HI: 06/11/2019 - The American Red Cross is in the process of opening a shelter at Koloa Neighborhood Center in Koloa Town for residents evacuated from their homes due to brush fire. Due to favorable circumstances, the shelter was closed at 9:30 pm the same night.

Areas of the evacuation are Ala Kinoiki Road from Po'ipu Road to Weliweli Road; Old Mill Road and Po'ipu Road east Ala Kinoiki Road Intersection. Any persons seeking shelter are asked to bring their own food, water, and medication, if possible and if needed. The Red Cross is a non-profit humanitarian organization which provides assistance to meet the immediate emergency needs of those affected by disasters. All Red Cross assistance to disaster victims is free. The Red Cross is not a government agency; it depends on public contributions to help others.
