The Indiana Region of the American Red Cross Welcomed Terry Stigdon, MSN, RN, as our new Chief Executive Officer. Terry deployed for the first time in September to Hawaii to assist with relief efforts in the aftermath of devastating wildfires.
News Story: Red Cross Volunteers Respond to Tornadoes
On the night of March 31, a series of tornadoes ripped through several counties in Indiana. Red Cross volunteers from the Region helped those impacted. The National Weather Service identified 10 tornadoes that caused severe damage in various counties.

At just three years old, Dominic’s parents had to face the unimaginable when their son was diagnosed with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. As part of his treatment, Dominic received blood transfusions.
News Story: Local Man Receives Lifesaving Award for Brave Actions
The American Red Cross Indiana Region honored Craig Gay with the American Red Cross Certificate of Extraordinary Personal Action. Craig did not hesitate to stop and help pull a woman out of a burning car.
Accidents happen, which is why it’s critical to be prepared. The Red Cross provides lifesaving courses such as first aid, CPR and how to use an AED, so they’ll have the knowledge and confidence to act in an emergency and help save lives.
This year our volunteers installed more than 3,100 smoke alarms across the region and made over 1,300 homes safer. During our Sound the Alarm event in South Broad Ripple, volunteers met Gail, a home fire survivor.
Red Cross volunteers and community partners set out to install smoke alarms in Tepe Park neighborhood. Together they installed 177 free smoke alarms and spoke with 209 residents about home fire safety.

Instagram Post: Indiana Region Volunteers Respond to Disasters Locally and Across the Country
Volunteers and staff from the Indiana Region helped those impacted by local disasters such as home fires and severe weather. They've also assisted with relief efforts in Mississippi after a tornado, Hawaii Wildfires, Hurricane Idalia and other disasters.
Every year, Red Cross staff and volunteers assist more than 240,000 military and veteran families across the country and around the world. We provide in-person support for troops on more than 100 military installations and deployment sites worldwide.
For the fifth year, volunteers with our Northwest Chapter provided support to the Leon’s Heroes Triathlon by providing First Aid and refreshments to athletes and partners.
Red Cross volunteers with the Northeast Chapter participated in the 'Three Rivers Parade' in Fort Wayne. Two of our nurse volunteers wore vintage Red Cross nurse uniforms. Today's Red Cross nurses are continuing a proud tradition of service that stretches back to the earliest days of the organization.
