DETROIT (July 8, 2025) – Brian Chambers has been named chief operating officer of the American Red Cross Michigan Region. In this role, Chambers leads a 12-member team that oversees business operations across the region, which includes 34 humanitarian and biomedical sites and the Red Cross vehicle fleet.
Previously, Chambers served as fleet and facilities supervisor for the region, a position he held for 3 ½ years. Prior to that, Chambers served as disaster program manager for the Red Cross Mid-Michigan Chapter in Lansing from 2018-2021. He joined the Red Cross in February 2016 as planning and recovery manager of the San Diego, California Region.
Before starting his Red Cross career, Chambers was lead diver at Sea World in San Diego and once led a salvage and recovery project after the 2011 tsunami.
Chambers is a graduate of Western Michigan University, and holds a master’s degree in homeland security from San Diego State University. In 2013, he completed a two-month summer study abroad at Cambridge University in the United Kingdom that focused on the British East India Company’s operations from 1757-1858.
