People in several southern states continue to deal with the devastation from severe storms and tornadoes that occurred a few weeks ago. The American Red Cross is with them, providing food, shelter and help with recovery. Red Cross workers will support those affected for as long as help is needed.
Diana McLaughlin of Rochester is departing for Mississippi where she will serve as a staff lodging supervisor, and Don Nelson of Endicott is travelling there to assist as a sheltering supervisor.
Seven volunteers from the Western and Central New York Region are now assisting with the recovery. McLaughlin and Nelson are joining Joyce Alexander of Rochester, Joshua Horton of Cuba, N.Y., Paula Hueber of Syracuse, Pittsford resident Sarah Perkins and Lockport’s Diane Sargent.
