The American Red Cross, Greater Rochester Chapter, recently opened a satellite office in Canandaigua, NY, to help provide services to the people of Ontario County. Since July 2017, the location at 493 South Main Street in Canandaigua has helped volunteers in Ontario County provide disaster response, health and safety training, Services to the Armed Forces, and more in their community.
“I am very excited that we have been able to reestablish a physical presence to support our amazing volunteers in Ontario County,” said James Love, American Red Cross, Greater Rochester Chapter Executive Director. “This space allows us to meet the growing demands for our services while also making the best use of donor dollars not just in Ontario County, but across Greater Rochester.”
Last year, 111 volunteers in Ontario County provided immediate emergency assistance to 27 families after 19 home fires and other disasters; installed 90 free smoke alarms as part of the Home Fire Campaign; enrolled 1,301 people in First Aid/CPR/AED and other lifesaving Health & Safety trainings; provided 105 services to military members, veterans, and their families; and collected 4,951 blood donations from volunteer donors.
A combination of staff and volunteers are opening the Ontario County office, located at 493 South Main Street in Canandaigua, between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Mondays & Fridays, and they can be reached during those hours at 585-394-2260.
