AURORA, Colo. (May 3, 2025) – The American Red Cross of the Mile High Area is responding to an apartment fire that occurred at 9:40 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 1400 N. Kingston St., Aurora, Colo. The Red Cross is responding at the request of Aurora Fire Rescue, who is investigating the incident.
At this time, the Red Cross is supporting 10 adults and one child impacted by the fire. We expect these numbers to grow as we continue to assess damage. Our case managers are beginning to work with the impacted parties to provide support, identify short-term housing needs and begin long-term recovery.
The role of the Red Cross in any disaster is to focus on addressing the immediate needs of those affected. We will continue to support our partners at Aurora Fire and Rescue as long as that need exists.
How to help
When a home fire occurs, Red Cross Disaster Action Team (DAT) volunteers are needed to respond to the fire to ensure the family members receive immediate assistance. As a DAT volunteer, you will provide emotional support, access to financial assistance and information to help families begin to recover. Training is free, but the hope provided as a Red Cross volunteer is priceless. To learn more visit, redcross.org/volunteer.
