DENVER, Colo. (Oct. 9, 2026) — The American Red Cross of Colorado and Wyoming is urgently sending disaster responders to Florida ahead of Hurricane Isaias, which is forecasted to strike northwest Florida late Friday night as a major hurricane before spreading intense winds and rain well inland into Alabama, Georgia and other parts of the southeastern United States.

The Red Cross is staging equipment and sending people from across the United States before the storm hits. Already, 16 local Red Crossers are on their way to provide support for sheltering, logistics and supporting emergency response vehicles in the region, ready to make a significant difference by ensuring people have a safe place to go before and after this potentially devastating storm.

Volunteers deployed with emergency response vehicle teams will provide food, supplies, water and other emergency supplies to individuals impacted by Hurricane Isaias. The Red Cross utilizes emergency response vehicles to provide a variety of mobile, scalable and easily identifiable support services to individuals affected by disaster. These vehicles are pre-positioned around the nation and are capable of rapidly deploying to support a disaster relief operation — either locally or nationally.

To ensure people have the help they need, the Red Cross depends on public support.
