If you’re passionate about helping people and looking for a volunteer opportunity with a visionary humanitarian organization, you can make a difference with the American Red Cross of Atlanta. Adults and teenagers (aged 15-17) are encouraged to apply and engage in meaningful opportunities for education, training and community service.
You don’t need a special reason to give blood. You just need your own reason. Maybe you were asked by a friend or relative, or maybe you believe it's the right thing to do. Whatever your reason, the need for blood donors is constant, and your contribution is important for a healthy and reliable blood supply. You'll also feel great knowing you've helped change a life!
Your donation powers the Red Cross response to an average of more than 60,000 disasters every year nationwide, providing shelter, food, emotional support and other necessities to those affected. By making a charitable donation to the Red Cross, you are there for millions of people who face emergencies every year and help as they rebuild their lives.
The Red Cross actively supports fundraising on many popular platforms - whether you use Facebook, Instagram, or prefer to live stream, we have the resources to get you started! Click below to learn more.
Thomas Fairley is the Executive Director for the American Red Cross of East Central Georgia. Fairley joined the American Red Cross in March 2022 as the Disaster Program Manager for the Southwest Florida Chapter. In 2023, he transitioned to a national role with the Community Adaptation Program, serving Sarasota County as a Disaster Risk Reduction Coordinator. Most recently, Fairley led the Southwest Florida Chapter as Executive Director.
His commitment to service began long before his professional roles, volunteering with the Red Cross as well as organizations like Feeding Empty Little Tummies and Samaritan’s Purse. Prior to joining the Red Cross, Fairley spent 15 years at Sysco Foodservice, where he held a variety of leadership positions, including Account Executive, Contract Sales Manager for the Southeast Region, and Director of Contract Sales.
A native of Augusta, Georgia, Fairley is excited to return to his hometown, where he still has family. He and his wife of 31 years, Teri, have two sons: Andrew, 25, and Jackson, 20. In his free time, Fairley enjoys cycling—both on the road and off-trail, where he admits to occasionally bouncing off a tree or two.
