When it comes to supporting Red Cross blood drives, Delta Air Lines is the largest corporate donor of blood in the U.S., collecting over 13,000 pints at around 250 blood drives—last year alone.
On August 15th, Red Cross of Georgia CEO, Jennifer Pipa, donated blood with the Delta team in Atlanta. Her gift of life will help to replenish the blood supply and help to fill the current emergency need for blood of all types.
“I’m thrilled to do my part to help,” long-time blood donor, Jennifer Pipa, said. “It takes only a few minutes to donate and it feels amazing to know my actions today will be directly impacting lives.”
This donation pushed Pipa over the four-gallon mark of lifetime, donated blood.
Delta also partners with the Red Cross, at the national level, for the annual Sound the Alarm campaign. During Sound the Alarm events, volunteers go door-to-door installing free smoke alarms in homes and helping families create home fire escape plans. To date, these efforts have saved over 620 lives!
Additionally, the airline's annual giving commitment of $1 million - as a member of the Red Cross Annual Disaster Giving Program - helps people be better prepared for, stay safer during, and recover faster after local and large-scale emergencies, nationwide.
“Before and after my donation, I thanked as many Delta team members as I could,” continued Pipa. “Their commitment to helping people in need is beyond commendable, it’s impressive!”
Right now, blood and blood products are being distributed to hospitals faster than donations are coming in. Because of this, eligible donors are being urged to schedule their donation appointment today at, RedCrossBlood.org.
