ATLANTA, GA (Feb. 21, 2022) – Primerica extends its longstanding partnership with the American Red Cross by donating a new vehicle to the Georgia blood collection fleet. Since 2011, the financial services company has provided over $400,000 in donations for disaster relief and medical equipment to the Red Cross. The company continues its dedication to improving the communities they serve through this contribution.
On February 22 at 11 a.m., Primerica will be hosting a vehicle dedication and celebration event at the company’s headquarters located at 1 Primerica Parkway Duluth, GA 30099. In addition, the company will host a blood drive from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at its corporate office.
“Over the last two decades, Primerica employees have donated over 3,000 pints of life-saving blood through 76 blood drives with the Red Cross,” said Kathryn Kieser, Chair of The Primerica Foundation. “Donating this new vehicle is an extension of the generous contributions our employees have made for this important cause and will extend the impact of our reach by transporting blood where it’s needed the most.”
This new vehicle, a Ford Transit Connect, merges with the Red Cross at a crucial time as it works to maintain, and grow, the collection of blood and its supply across the state. This van will transport blood from processing, testing, and storage centers and then deliver it to patients in need at hospitals and cancer treatment centers.
Additionally, it may provide emergency delivery of rare blood and urgent blood to hospitals that experience a shortage.
The new van will be the second vehicle Primerica has donated to the Red Cross. In 2019, the company donated a new Dodge RAM Promaster City Van for blood collection across metro Atlanta.
“We are extremely thankful for Primerica’s continued humanitarian commitment and their generous donation,” said Dee Dixon, Regional Chief Executive Officer of the American Red Cross of Georgia. “Partners like Primerica are vital to our mission so that we are able to help our neighbors in need.”
Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. Red Cross blood donors are the lifeline to meet this constant need for car accident victims, parents with complicated childbirths, individuals battling cancer and people with sickle cell disease.
