American Red Cross volunteer Gretchen Moore will be deploying to Guam to join other Red Cross volunteers to help those impacted by Typhoon Mawar. Gretchen, who is a disaster team member, has been a volunteer with the Indiana Red Cross since 2009.
Three weeks ago, Typhoon Mawar hit Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and while the situation is improving some areas are still without power and water. Guam is home to several major U.S. military facilities, which have also been affected by the typhoon. The island has over 150,000 residents, and more than 20,000 are military members and their families.
Gretchen will join more than 300 trained Red Cross disaster workers from all over the United States who are on the Islands, providing shelter, supporting feeding efforts, and assessing residential damage to help support people affected by this powerful storm.
Help people affected by Typhoon Mawar in U.S. territories including Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
