The American Red Cross of the Indiana Region has been selected as the first location across the country to pilot a new bloodmobile that is equipped with a generator that is powered by a battery pack and solar panels. These will be used to run the lights and other equipment needed to safely collect blood donations once the vehicle is parked.
The event will take place on Wednesday, November 15th at the American Red Cross Offices located at 1510 N. Meridian Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46202 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Remarks from our CEO, Terry Stigdon and partners will be followed with a tour of the bloodmobile.
This is part of the organization’s efforts to minimize its environmental footprint by reducing diesel fuel consumption, reduce waste and water usage. Thank you to our partners Toyota Material Handling for funding the bloodmobile and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for funding the solar-supported onboard battery.
