BOSTON, March 17, 2023 — On Wednesday, March 29, the American Red Cross of Massachusetts, together with Heritage sponsor Columbia Threadneedle Investments, will honor the 2023 class of Boston Heroes with a breakfast and awards ceremony in downtown Boston.
The Boston Heroes Breakfast will feature winners in eight categories representing different facets of the Red Cross mission, including Blood Services, Community Impact, Life Saving Rescue, Firefighter, Good Samaritan, Nursing, Youth and Compassion Into Action.
This year, the Red Cross is also honored to present former Governor Charles Baker and former First Lady Lauren Baker with the Red Cross Hall of Fame Award. The Bakers will be present in person to accept this award which celebrates their decades of dedicated Red Cross service.
“We have such an impressive class of heroes this year,” said Holly Grant, CEO of the Red Cross of Massachusetts. “Some have worked side by side with the Red Cross, some only came to our attention through other community organizations involved in our Heroes and Leadership Councils. But what they all have in common is that they embrace the humanitarian spirit of the Red Cross by racing into action in a single moment – or committing themselves to a lifetime of advocacy – with the goal of saving lives in and around Boston.”
The 2023 Boston Heroes Breakfast is made possible by our generous corporate sponsors, including Ted Truscott on behalf of Columbia Threadneedle Investments. Truscott is chairman of this year’s Leadership Council and has helped leverage his considerable contacts in the business world to encourage support of the Red Cross mission.
“I am so excited to be a part of this amazing event in person,” said Truscott, CEO of Columbia Threadneedle Investments and 2023 Heritage sponsor. “Each of these heroes has an inspirational story, and my wife Kathy and I are so happy to help shine a light on their amazing work.
The Boston Heroes Breakfast runs from 8 to 9:15 a.m. at The State Room, a Longwood Venue and will be emceed by Melody Mendez of NBC Boston, New England Cable News and Telemundo Nueva Inglaterra. More information about the event can be found at redcross.org/HeroesBreakfastBoston
