New Hampshire’s largest blood drive aims to collect 1,000 donations in 43rd year
For more than four decades, the Singer family has hosted this legacy blood drive in memory of the late Gail Singer who lost her battle with leukemia in 1984. She was just 29 years old. Donated blood products gave Gail precious extra time with her family. Since her passing, the Singer family has partnered with the American Red Cross to hold an annual blood drive in her memory. Now in its 43rd year, the Gail Singer Memorial Blood Drive has grown into the largest and longest-running blood drive in New Hampshire and has collected more than 28,000 lifesaving blood donations. This year, the team aims to collect another 1,000 donations over two days – blood that will help patients throughout New Hampshire and across the country.

Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. Blood is essential to help patients survive surgeries, cancer treatment, chronic illnesses, and traumatic injuries. This lifesaving care starts with one person making a generous donation. The need for blood is constant. But only about 3% of age-eligible people donate blood yearly.
