NORTH CAROLINA, April 28, 2025 – The American Red Cross of North Carolina is excited to announce James Jarvis as the new Regional Disaster Officer for the North Carolina Region.
Jarvis most recently served as the Executive Director for the American Red Cross of the Cape Fear Area of North Carolina. In this capacity, Jarvis oversaw all Red Cross operations in 12 counties in eastern NC (Brunswick, Carteret, Columbus, Craven, Duplin, Jones, Lenoir, New Hanover, Onslow, Pamlico, Pender, and Wayne).
Prior to joining the American Red Cross as a public affairs volunteer in February 2013 and as a full-time employee in July 2014, Jarvis served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps for nearly 23 years, retiring in February 2011 at the rank of major. During his decorated military career, Jarvis served as an enlisted Marine and officer, while completing combat tours in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Liberia with the 26^th^ Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable).
For the American Red Cross, Jarvis has served as the Disaster Program Specialist for the Cape Fear Chapter from 2014-2016; as the Service to the Armed Forces Manager for Camp Lejeune and the Cape Fear Area from 2016-2017and in his most recent assignment from 2017-2025.
Jarvis has deployed across the country on 18 national disaster relief operations in senior leadership positions and most recently completed an interim assignment as the Southeast and Caribbean Division Director for Service to the Armed Forces and International Services.
Jarvis is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma (BBA, Management Information Systems, Summa Cum Laude) and Webster University (MBA). He and his wife, Heather, reside in Wilmington, NC and have a daughter, Hunter, and two sons, Chase and Dashiell.
