“I’m fulfilling a dream.”
Long time Red Cross volunteer and former Central PA Region Service to the Armed Forces Director Kathy Doran has departed for a six-month deployment to Kuwait. She will serve on the Service to the Armed Forces team at Camp Arifjan, continuing the legacy Red Cross Founder Clara Barton started over 130 years ago during the Civil War of supporting our military members.
Kathy’s passion for serving the military community, along with her always positive attitude and perpetual smile, will serve her well in the challenging work and living conditions of a military deployment environment, said Central PA Region Service to the Armed Forces Director Jon Glenn. We are excited for her to start this new journey with the Red Cross overseas.
Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces teams play a number of roles in supporting our military abroad, from hosting morale boosting activities to making sure service members and their families stay in touch with each other during times of crisis. The Red Cross role in communications is to independently verify the emergency, assisting military commanders in making informed decisions regarding emergency leave.
Kathy has been passionate about the Red Cross mission for over 20 years and looks forward to this new chapter overseas.
“This is something I’ve wanted to do for a long, long time,” said Kathy Doran. “I’m fulfilling a dream.”
