[PITTSBURGH] — The Southwestern Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Red Cross Greater Pennsylvania Region is providing resources and assistance to displaced residents of the Ohringer Building in the 600 Block of Braddock Avenue, Braddock (Allegheny County) after a home fire today in the 8-story residential building.
At the request of Allegheny County Emergency officials, a Red Cross Disaster Action team mobilized to provide support for residents displaced from all 37 units within the building.
The fire was isolated to an area on the 7th floor; however, extensive smoke and water damage impacted a significant number of units and residents are unable to return to their homes this evening.
To date, 38 adults and 1 child have been provided with Red Cross assistance and resources to meet emergency needs, and in coordination with local officials and Ohringer Building management, residents are also being provided overnight accommodations at an off-site location.
The Red Cross is also continuing efforts to connect with additional residents who have been displaced.
