[HARRISBURG, JULY 18, 2022] — The American Red Cross established an overnight shelter for displaced residents from the 2100 Block of Lincoln Highway East in Lancaster following flooding that affected all 97 units of the motel. Overnight, 20 adults and 3 children from 9 units were provided a safe place to sleep as well as meals and other emergent needs.
The Red Cross Disaster Action Team was dispatched on July 17, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. to assist individuals affected by a reported multi-family fire at the motel. Arriving on scene, teams learned that fire suppression systems had flooded all rooms at the motel, displacing an estimated 100 individuals; many of whom were long-term residents.
The overnight shelter will continue to operate this evening to provide resources and assistance to affected individuals.
Red Cross teams are also working to connect with additional residents who have been displaced and to provide connections and resources for emergency assistance.
