[GREENSBURG] — The American Red Cross has opened an overnight emergency shelter for Westmoreland County residents affected by Friday’s flash flooding.
As of 1 p.m. Sunday, nine residents along with four pets, have been provided with services at the shelter which opened at 9 p.m. Saturday evening.
The shelter will serve as a central and temporary location for those seeing assistance. Individuals can receive support with recovery planning, community resources, meals, and overnight accommodations.
The shelter is located at the University of Pittsburgh Greensburg campus, 504 University Court, Greensburg, Building A-1. These services are free, and pets are welcome at the shelter.
Today, teams from the Red Cross, along with local officials, began the second day of visiting flood-affected areas to assess the damage to homes and determine community needs.
