SOUTH CAROLINA, September 15, 2022 – A disaster trained volunteer from the South Carolina Region of the American Red Cross will deploy to support ongoing efforts in Western Washington where devastating wildfires continue to burn, forcing thousands of people from their homes. The Red Cross is on the ground focused on providing shelter, meals, comfort and support in the face of dozens of wildfires that we have been responding to for nearly half the year.
One local volunteer is heading to Washington to help with recovery work. The South Carolina volunteer will join hundreds of Red Cross volunteers from across the country. In Washington, the Bolt Creek Fire has burned more than 1,100 acres and forced hundreds of people from their homes.
As the threat of wildfires continues, the South Carolina Region is preparing to respond if necessary and offers steps people should take to help stay safe.
YOU CAN HELP people affected by disasters like wildfires, floods, and countless other crises by
