Clarksville residents whose homes were destroyed or majorly damaged were greeted at the FEMA Disaster Resource Center by Red Cross volunteers, like Kelly Gonzalez and Russ Doseck. Leaving home to respond to disasters is commonplace for Red Cross workers, even when it is during the holiday season. Gonzalez packed and left her home in Pennsylvania, while Doseck left his home in Ohio, both to provide much needed assistance to the people of middle Tennessee following six tornadoes that touched down Dec. 9. This is what Red Cross volunteers do during disasters big and small; serve others in neighborhoods close-by and in other parts of the country.
Working as a team, they help ensure available assistance for all eligible residents was provided. Through caring volunteers like Kelly and Russ the Red Cross is available when disaster strikes.
