This week #CSTR spotlights and honors volunteer Vic Moulakis of the Permian Basin Chapter.
When Vic joined the Red Cross in April 2024, he never imagined that he would be so dedicated to volunteering for the organization; “I feel satisfied when I help people, I didn’t know I would be so dedicated to volunteering but I get some form of fulfillment from assisting individuals who just had the worst day of their life.” Vic said these words with a deep sense of realization.
Born in the bustling city of New York, Vic who currently lives in Texas, was motivated to become a volunteer when he visited his friend who is the executive director. During his visit, he met some volunteers who were working; their act of service inspired him to join Red Cross. He said, “I was motivated to become a volunteer when I visited a friend who is the executive director, we attend the same church. During my visit, I met some people working there so I decided to get involved and help out.”
Vic has not deployed yet because he likes to stay close to home, but he has made impact in his local chapter. According to him, he has done some installs, and has been actively involved in opening up some shelters. He said, “I have done a few installs, done a few disaster calls. I have been involved in opening up shelters. I have not deployed because I like to stay close to home. I am actively involved in the activities of my local chapter. I have helped in tornadoes, flooding and family fires. I am also in charge of the vehicles in the chapter.”
Vic is a proof that individuals can make impact anywhere.
